La Maddalena is a town and municipality situated on the island of the same name, in the northern part of Sardinia, which is a part of the province of Olbia-Tempio, Italy. La Maddalena is the biggest town in the Maddalena archipelago, located on the northeastern coast of Sardinia and nestled in the Straits of Bonifacio, between Sardinia and Corsica. The island of Maddalena is famous for its beaches; it features rocky granite landscapes and has some ancient fortifications. Spalmatore and Bassa Trinita are two well-known beaches. The island is linked by a causeway to the nearby island of Caprera.
